Safety and security on Kemnal Road
We are all too aware of the dangers to ourselves and our property. Even in our tranquil Road there are dangers and occasional incidents.
Neighbourhood Watch, and Safer Neighbourhood Scheme
Theft and burglary occurs often enough to be a threat to us all, and we have a Neighbourhood Watch scheme which is now co-ordinated by Lin Limbrey. She links into the Chislehurst Safer Neighbourhood Scheme.
Please contact Lin to let her know your email details so that she can circulate current and future police notices.

Traffic: speeding and parking
Speeding continues to be a problem on the Road, despite the laying down of the speed humps some years ago. All residents are requested to respect the 20mph restriction which is there for everyone's safety. We are in contact with Bromley Council about other means of calming traffic in the Road, and will continue to review ways of dealing with the few who drive too quickly. We have recently erected new signs pointing out the speed limit.
There are also regular complaints from residents about persistent parking of commercial vehicles on the road. Apart from their impact on the amenity of the road, they are a danger to drivers since they often obstruct the vision of drivers coming out of their drives. We are working with residents to try to find a solution.
Lighting
The road has an abundance of trees, which is wonderful, but many of the trees obstruct the lighting in the Road. We continue to ask householders to keep their trees trimmed where they overhang near Road lights.
Bromley Council has recently upgraded the lighting in many roads in Chislehurst with lights that increase visibility while reducing the amount of general light pollution. Kemnal Road has not so far been included in the programme. Watch this space
